National Electric Supply Named Greenest of the Green
“tED” magazine recognizes electrical distributor for green
business efforts
ST. LOUIS… tED magazine, the official publication of the
National Association of Electrical Distributors (NAED) is pleased to announce
that National Electric Supply in Albuquerque, N.M., has won its first-ever
“Greenest of the Green” Award. The award recognizes NAED distributor member companies
that have implemented energy-efficiency solutions in their own operations.
“Green is much more than just a buzzword at our company,”
said Rocklan Lawrence, president and CEO of National Electric Supply. “We
looked at our overall carbon footprint and decided to become a leader and good
steward of the community. It was important for us to not only bring green
solutions to the market, but to truly experience and understand firsthand about
renewable energy systems.”
National Electric Supply has had a Corporate Sustainability
and Environmental Stewardship Policy in place since 2008. The companywide
strategy includes renewable energy generation, corporate recycling, energy
efficient facilities and operations, and sustainability products. The company
has put its policy into action in the following ways: installing a solar
photovoltaic (PV) system on the roof of its building; providing an intranet
site to go paperless; using energy efficient lighting and skylights; having
rechargeable, battery operated forklifts; and creating the Energy Solutions
Group (ESG) to help customers find opportunities in new market segments.
Judges for the Greenest of the Green Award contest included:
Bill Attardi, founder of Attardi Marketing; Mary Ann Lazarus, founder of the
sustainable design initiative at HOK; Jan Niehaus, president of Communication
by Design and tED “Green Channel” columnist; and Jerry Yudelson, president and
