NAED respects your privacy and is committed to safeguarding it as you participate on NAED.org. Your participation and feedback allow us to improve and expand the features and functions of NAED.org, while providing you with personalized services based on your unique preferences. To help facilitate progress and high quality on-line services, we gather certain information about our visitors. This policy statement explains the type of information we gather, how we use it, and how you can change your personal information.
Visitor Registration and Profile Information
As part of the initial registration process, we ask visitors to provide their name, e-mail address, and certain other demographic information. In the “My Profile” section of NAED.org, visitors may provide additional information including facts about their interests, product and service requirements, and personal preferences. This helps us deliver the most relevant, targeted news and information to registered visitors who elect to participate.
We use this information to develop individual and collective visitor profiles. By becoming a registered visitor on NAED.org, you consent to us employing the methods described above to enhance your on-line experiences and provide the most useful, relevant information.
Children's Online Privacy Protection
The safety of children is very important to us. NAED.org and our related Internet services such as e-mail are not directed to or intended for use by children under the age of 13. We will not knowingly accept registration from visitors who are under the age of 13 years, nor will we knowingly collect or maintain personally identifiable information from or about anyone under the age of 13. In the event that we receive information that establishes that a registered visitor is under the age of 13 years, we will delete all information in our databases about that visitor. If you believe that we have any information from or about anyone under 13, please contact us at privacy@NAED.org and let us know.
We do not provide personally identifiable information of registered visitors to third parties except as noted under “Limits of Confidentiality” below. Personally identifiable information includes visitor name, e-mail address or other information from which the visitor’s identity could be reasonably ascertained. We use current technologies to preserve the anonymity of our site visitors. We will under no circumstance knowingly reveal any visitor’s identity to an unauthorized third party.
Limits of Confidentiality
As part of regular business activities, we may disclose certain aggregate level information about registered visitors to certain third parties. We will disclose aggregate level information about registered visitors as reasonably necessary to explain the services that we offer, to report on initiatives that we undertake with any third party, and/or to implement and explain business strategies. Subject to the exceptions discussed below, we will not knowingly disclose any personally identifiable information about a registered visitor to an unauthorized third party.
Due to the existing legal, regulatory and security environment, we may be required, under certain circumstances, to disclose aggregate level and/or personally identifiable information about visitors. We will use best efforts to limit such disclosure to the following: where we believe in good faith that we are required to do so in response to a Subpoena or other legal process; where reasonably required to do so in order to maintain, update or otherwise implement data security measures, equipment, technical operations and the like; or where reasonably necessary to identify, contact or bring legal action against persons or entities to preserve and/or enforce our legal rights.
Use of Information
We use registered visitor information to deliver our Internet services. We use visitor information to monitor, interpret, analyze and report Web site results. We do not use visitor information for purposes unrelated to the products and services we offer.
Protection of Visitor Information
We undertake substantial efforts to protect the confidentiality of the identity, preferences and other information we have collected about individual visitors and will never knowingly allow access to this information to unauhtorized third parties other than to registered visitors via "My Profile" or as described above under the heading “Limits of Confidentiality.” NAED.org has contemporary server, database, backup and firewall technologies to protect its information assets, including the confidentiality of information collected about Web site visitors. These technologies are deployed as part of a formal security architecture and protocol.
You should do your part in protecting your information. Your NAED.org User ID and password are confidential and we recommend that you not divulge them to anyone. Unfortunately, neither our technology infrastructure nor data transmission over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect visitor information, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of visitor information. Thus, any information a visitor transmits to us is done so at the visitor’s own risk. Once we receive visitor information, we undertake substantial efforts to protect the confidentiality of this information consistent with this Policy.
