KENTUCKY

 kentucky map

The coal mining industry in Kentucky is one of the largest in the nation, employing more coal miners than any other state.  The Department of Energy's Gaseous Diffusion Plant in Paducah is a primary producer of nuclear fuel used in civilian nuclear power plants.  Housing no nuclear plants of its own, Kentucky sends this fuel across the country and around the globe, where it is used to produce 17% of the world's electricity.  – Department of Energy
