In recognition of our members’ significant professional achievements, NAED has launched a digital badging initiative through Accredible, our digital credentialing partner. A digital badge is a validated, standardized graphical representation of knowledge and skills that can be earned by undertaking various learning activities. 

Here are some interesting facts that you may want to share with your professional network when discussing digital badges:

  1. Each digital badge has a unique URL that badge holders can share electronically via social media sites, email and embed on an individual's profile page on a firm website. 
  2. NAED offers digital badges for all Electrical Product Education Course (EPEC) programs as well as the Certified Electrical Professional (CEP) Sales programs. 
  3. According to a recent LinkedIn study, LinkedIn profiles with certifications and badges are viewed six times more often than the average profile.

  • What is the benefit of having a digital badge?

    A digital badge helps individuals gain recognition for significant professional development by allowing them to easily share their achievements. Prospective customers are able to quickly verify a digital badge holder’s competencies and skills. The digital badge also provides greater credibility and visually declares an individuals’ commitment to professional development. 
  • What curriculum is eligible for a digital badge?

    Currently badges are issued for all Electrical Product Education Course (EPEC) programs as well as the Certified Electrical Professional (CEP) Sales programs. Other education programs are under consideration for badging.

  • What happens when I complete a curriculum that offers a digital badge?

    Upon successful completion of a program, our member services team will issue your digital badge and the traditional certificate. Within 5 business days, you will receive an email from “NAED via Accredible” our digital credential partner, with instructions and a link to showcase your achievement. 

  • Individuals who have earned EPEC Graduate or CEP-Sales designation since January 1, 2016

    All graduates of EPEC and CEP Sales received email instructions on how to claim their badge in February of 2017. If you’d like to have those instructions reissued, please contact memberservices@naed.org or 888-791-2512.

  • Do I have to accept the digital badge if I complete a NAED program that offers one?

    You do not have to claim the digital badge, however digital badges are becoming the standard for recognizing and publicizing professional development.

  • How long do I have to accept a digital badge that I have earned? 

    There is no time limit to accept the digital badge; however, please refer to the below question, "Will my certificate badge ever expire?"

  • How do I share my digital badge?

    Refer to the email you received from “NAED via Accredible” our digital credential partner, with instructions and a link to showcase your achievement. If you’re unable to locate the email, contact memberservices@naed.org or 888-791-2512.

  • Will my digital badge ever expire?

    No, as with both the EPEC and CEP programs, your credentials will never expire. You’ve earned them!

  • How will someone know my digital badge is authentic?

    Your digital badge is linked to your profile on the Accredible site. Each certificate and profile has a unique URL that will display your badge information if you choose to share it on a social network profile or website or in your email signature.

  • Can someone copy or steal my badge?

    No, your digital badge is awarded to the name and email address you used to complete your certificate program. If someone were to copy the badge, it would be unverified and invalid. If you encounter any individual who appears to be misusing a NAED digital badge image or unique URL, please contact us at memberservices@naed.org.

  • Will I still receive a paper certificate? 

    Yes, we recognize that many of our members proudly display their certificates in their office or branch and we want to ensure you can display your achievements in whichever way you choose.

  • If I have digital badges that aren't from NAED, is there a way to consolidate them into one place? 

    Yes, Our badges are built in mozilla open badge format which means they store certain bits of metadata that allows them to be verified and used anywhere that accepts open badge format. This includes being able to add them to badge “backpacks,” job sites, social networks, portfolio pages, email signatures and a multitude of other places. 

  • Are other organizations using digital badges?

    Yes, digital badges are becoming the standard for recognizing and publicizing professional development.
