Supply Chain Bill Passes the House
On April 28, the House of Representatives passed the Promoting Resilient Supply Chains Act of 2025, sponsored by Rep. John James (R-MI). The bill establishes a Supply Chain Resiliency Program within the Department of Commerce, using AI and quantum computing to anticipate and mitigate supply chain disruptions from natural and man-made disasters. It includes an Early Warning System, fosters public-private collaboration, and incentivizes domestic manufacturing to reduce reliance on adversarial nations like China.

NAED Responds to President Trump’s Tariff Announcement
Yesterday, President Trump announced his plan to impose a 10% tariff on all countries, as well as an individualized higher tariff on the countries with which the United States has the largest trade deficits, under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act of 1977. Wes Smith, President and CEO of the National Association of Electrical Distributors, provided a statement.

A bipartisan bill to expand workforce development opportunities by providing federal tax incentives to businesses that hire apprentices was introduced by Congresswoman Nikki Budzinski. As part of this reintroduction, she is advocating for the bill to be included in the upcoming tax package.

Recently, the bipartisan Credit Incentives for Resilient Critical Utility Infrastructure and Transformers (CIRCUIT) Act was introduced to Congress. This important legislation expands the Advanced Manufacturing Production Credit (45X) to include electric distribution transformers—critical components in meeting growing energy demands. The bill may move forward as part of a reconciliation package or as a stand-alone measure. Either way, if passed, it will help ensure reliable power for homes and businesses nationwide.
